The Life History of True Slime Molds
This is a scientific film that explores the ecology of a bacteria called slime mold, a type of soil microorganism, through three years of observation and photography. This masterpiece was completed at the age of 91 by filmmaker Higuchi Genichiro, who has gained worldwide recognition for his "video papers" that pursues the mechanism of cellular slime molds for cellular differentiation. After being born on Earth a billion years ago, the real slime mold has survived while adapting to various environments. In this work, the rhythm of the slime mold that cannot be seen with the naked eye is captured using a microscope using time-lapse photographs.
